MegaFon: Traffic of streaming platforms rises 50% in 2023

MOSCOW, Aug 31 (PRIME) -- Traffic of Russia’s popular streaming platforms has increased by 50% in 2023, while the U.S.’ Twitch is challenged by China’s Trovo and local VK Play, mobile operator MegaFon said on Thursday in a statement.

“Twitch is still the most popular platform for streamers. Its Russian audience increased by 24% over the year despite the restrictions in monetization and bloggers’ calls to move to other services. The second place belongs to Chinese platform Trovo by company Tencent, while its Russian audience has fallen by a third over the recent year,” MegaFon said.

Launched in April 2022, VK Play took the third place and is one of the most popular portals for streamers.

The core of the streaming platforms’ audience switched from zoomers to millennials. The subscribers aged 17 to 25 accounted for 48% of all visits in 2022, now their share fell to 44.5%. The users aged 25 to 35 widened their share to 47% from 40% a year earlier.
